Weekend

Monday, June 5th, 2006

Did the whole Carlos ‘N Charlies thing. Was very hot, waaaay too many people and parking sucked. Other than that, it was great. We came back to the house afterwards and just hung out and watched a movie that Jerry lent me called Birthday Girl with Nicole Kidman. It was pretty good actually. She plays a Russian mail-order bride and does an excellent job with the whole meek immigrant act. (Act being the key word)

On Sunday I awoke to a banging on my front door. I had slept in and forgotten that I was supposed to help Fred move. Joe was at the door and I jumped out of bed, threw some clothes on and flew downstairs to let him in. I thought it was immigration coming to take me away because fatass biggot Lou Dobbs thinks we have “Broken Borders”. That chubby freaking rat can eat me. In fact, it looks like he “ate a bebe”. *Scottish accent*

Anyway, we finished moving all of Fred’s things into his newly converted apartment – (which used to be a nursing home) Very interesting inside to say the least. It only makes me wonder how many poor old people perished in that place. How many in his room alone? Creepy. Ok, that’s all the fun I’ll make of Fred’s new place. (At least on the website)

I hope to make it to the gym tonight. I’m still going to the Burnett location where Will works, but when the Tech Ridge location opens, I’ll be able to walk to it. Now isn’t that nice children?

Man has it been a long week. Short weeks seem to last the longest for some reason. This weekend should be busy. I’ve got tickets and VIP passes to the Mix 94.7 private beach party at Carlos ‘n Charlies on Saturday. Lifehouse and several other bands will be there, but Leslie and I will be there for the free drinks and food. After that, it’s back to the house for a sweet rubbermatch between Diego Corrales and Jose Luis Castillo. This fight trilogy has been one of the most intriguing since Mickey Ward and Aturo Gatti. Anyone else a boxing fan? Write your comments right here at EA.com. On Sunday, Fred asked me, Nolen, Joe and Greg to help him move. :( That’s all I have to say about that.

Tonight I’ll probably just watch the Miami Heat send the Pistons home and wait on the winner of the Mavericks/Suns series.

I was feeling really fatigued yesterday late in the day and I decided to skip the gym. Went home and tried to relax but of course my 22 year-old girlfriend was full of energy. We decided to head over to Johnny Carinos for the last day of their 2 for $19.95 special. (Any 2 entrees, 2 soups or salads, and desert) Not a bad deal when you think about it. When I came home, I wasn’t feeling much better so we just chilled and watched the Heat lose to the Pistons.

I’ve been contemplating writing a story or an account of events in my life so far. I have yet to find the motivation to do so however. Perhaps someday I will have a chance to sit and write all day.

Richard Lord from Lord’s gym called me the other night and tried to sell me some boxing tickets for an upcoming event at the Frank Erwin Center. I bit, and Leslie and I will be attending on the 17th. Should be sweet. I’ve been thinking also about getting back into boxing. I always loved the sport and I really miss the intense training sessions that it can provide.

Little sissies

The Dallas Mavericks got spanked like monkeys last night by the Phoenix Suns. What happened Dirk? 3 for 13? Bruce Bowen does better than that on a bad night. If Dallas loses this series, they’ll always be a joke. They’re one bright spot will be when the refs gave them several wins over San Antonio. Just last year the Spurs beat the full strength Suns to go on to win the championship. They first beat Denver, then Dallas, then Phoenix, and then the fully loaded Pistons. Remember that? Now that’s hard. Fishing for fouls? That’s your job to teach your actors that. The Mavs can’t even beat the Suns even though 90 percent of their talent is injured.

Did you see Avery Johnson last night after the game? He didn’t even walk over to shake D’Antoni’s hand! Mark Cuban is a punk with no class. You’ll never buy a championship Mark. Never. Only talented teams win championships. Lakers, Celtics, Bulls, Rockets and Spurs. Not crybaby owners. Get a haircut and continue on with your movie pursuits. “The Smartest Guys in the Room” and “The War Within” are excellent, excellent movies. Much respect for being involved with those productions. Now let it go. Like Rocky 4 against the Russian, — “you can’t win!”. (Only, for real, you can’t) :l

Back to work

Tuesday, May 30th, 2006

That was a pretty relaxing weekend. Leslie and I pretty much kicked back for most of it. Leslie had to work on Friday, but she get’s off at 2pm. We watched a few DVD’s that have stacked up at my house. Time Warner gives us promotional DVD’s to screen before they are actually released on VOD. We are not allowed to distribute them however. They have good security on them anyway. There’s a constant banner on the screen that reads “Property of Time Warner Cable” and the color goes black and white occasionally as well.

We watched a Martin Lawrence comedy called Rebound which was pretty funny. We also watched Date Movie which I enjoyed, but Leslie did not. Lastly, we saw an extremely funny movie called Grandma’s Boy. It was a comedy about game testers and developers. Lots of nerd jokes and robot voices. (You’ll see)

On Saturday we watched UFC with Royce Gracie coming back to fight and get beat up. The Miami Heat played on Saturday and yesterday as well taking a commanding 3-1 lead on the Detroit Pistons. After having a lot of beers and staying up late with Leslie and Quinton listening to my iPod on my new iHome, I needed some recovery time on Sunday. We just ordered a pizza on Sunday and stayed in.

Yesterday was Memorial Day and we got up and had an early lunch at Subway. Then we went over to It’s a Grind to have some tea and coffee and then it was off to the dollar store for a couple of things. The plan was to do all this before 2pm so that I can go to the gym, come back, shower, chill for a bit, then go downtown. The plan worked and we ended up at Saba on 4th street. That was some good food. God bless the Entertainment Book! Well. Back to work.

Today is my Friday

Thursday, May 25th, 2006

I’m so glad I have a 4 day weekend ahead of me. I even wore jeans to work today. So what happened to the Dallas Mavericks last night? They’re already down 1-0? Come on. I guess they did lose game one to the Spurs as well so maybe they’ll come back. Phoenix is a fast team with and up-tempo offense and very little defense. Of course last night they were making Dallas look like they have no defense.

Yesterday I watched a video of some psycho lighting his ex-girlfriend on fire. Of course, she had gone to court to get a restraining order on him long before it happened, but the lazy fat judge did nothing to help her. I saw this compelling video footage on AOL by the way. I also saw a traffic accident where some minivan flipped like 10 times or something. (They actually survived because they were wearing their seatbelt.)

Did you hear that the NFL is considering giving Jeb Bush the commisioner’s job? What on earth are they thinking? I’m so tired of all these professional sports programs being run buy completely clueless idiots. Look at the NBA – David Stern is a moron. Hockey, baseball, soccer, on and on an on. They never hire anyone with any kind of savvy. Very unfortunate.

Ok, now that it’s been a day, I can write about the San Antonio Spurs. Yesterday was intensly depressing. I was hurting emotionally and physically. Now, 2 days later, I’m back on the road to recovery. A trip to the gym last night, some time on the treadmill and bike, the sauna, things like that – all very soothing. I have to sweat out the need to watch my team for at least 2 or 3 weeks, and it will be at least 6 months before they start playing again. All the sports writers chose the Spurs to win it all, but unfortunately, the Dallas Mavericks were taught to fish for fouls better than any team I’ve ever watched.

If you’re not familiar with what fishing is about, it goes like this. If you are driving the lane and jump into a defender to draw the foul, that is fishing. If your hair flails about when someone comes to defend you, that is fishing. If you throw your arms up for no apparent reason while posting up on a defender, that my friend, is fishing. Jerk Nowitsky or whatever that wimp’s name is has taken the growth hormone for too long now. His forehead is starting to pop out a bit and that is an obvious sign.

Anyway, the most unfortunate thing about a loss in this series is that Dallas only really won one game. Game 2. Oh yes, and the most unfortunate thing? They can’t win a championship. The Spurs had a chance, but the refs took it away. (Them and Dirk the Jerk’s hair)

Any comments? Go F*#k Yourself.

This is just a note for Josh to say congratulations on becoming a second degree black belt. You have accomplished so many things in your life and we are all lucky to have you as a friend. If you think about it, you are blessed and we should all thank God for all that we have. Take for example – our significant others, family, children, homes, educations, jobs, investments, toys, and everything else that makes us happy.

I have not written in this blog for over a year, but when I see everything you post on your website, it makes me want to say just one word. Congratulations.

So many things have changed since last year. I am still with Leslie, but I’ve graduated college and bought a home. Y’all had Maly and your lives changed. Fred’s life changed as well. I won’t disclose too much of his business, but he did receive a promotion at work. Nolen and Rebecca are pregnant and while he’s driving around in his brand new RX8, I’m sure he’s pondering all the responsibilities that he will be undertaking. Derek, who I hadn’t seen in a very long time finally showed up to and event at my house. It happened to be my 30′th birthday party and he told me all about what’s going on with him. Phillip bought a house in Round Rock and drives around in a sweet vet. Jerry has made Austin his home and has made several significant and positive changes in his life.

So many of my closest friends are all changing for the better and I think that someday we will reach all of our goals, obtain our dreams and move forward with all that we’ve done for ourselves.

Office Space

Wednesday, March 16th, 2005

Looks like I’ll finally be graduating from St. Edward’s as well as from the cube-school of no knocks. That’s right folks, they’re giving me an office. With a door and everything. Also, Time Warner is giving me a brand-new laptop to go with my new office. How do you like them apples?
